During the summer, our neighbours gave us lettuce, tomatoes, zucchini and zucchini flowers. I think in a way they took pity on us, because we hadn't organised ourselves to do our own summer orto like the year before.
They watered my rhubarb while we were away during the summer:
More recently we were spoilt with a plate of these:
And a plate of these:
And a whole container of kiwis.
It is not just Italians in Italy who are generous! Last week I got an additional box full of kiwis from my English friend Linda who lives about 5 minutes away.
Giving food gifts is a simple but lovely gesture.
I believe that we are going to be able to give away some of our produce from our winter vegetable patch, which makes me happy as I will be in a position to share our bounty.
I have written this post to take part in Italy Blogging Roundtable. The theme for this month is presents/ gifts/ regali. To catch up on this initiative you can go and have a look at the following sites:
- Alexandra – ArtTrav
- Gloria – At Home in Tuscany
- Rebecca – Brigolante
- Melanie – Italofile
- Jessica – WhyGo Italy
Another mention thanks Cathy :) It is lovely that our neighbours and yours are so willing to share their produce and other goodies, that plate of sweet goodies looks tasty!
ReplyDeleteI know Linda. I felt I should mention you in this post. We are fortunate indeed to have such generous neighbours :)
